Salon Management
Virtual Honey Badger
The Virtual Honey Badger is a small Windows program for testing. It lets your team try SunMule's room controls and sessions from any computer, as if they were on a salon network with a real Honey Badger.
Before you start
- Testing only: The Virtual Honey Badger is for SunMule's testing environment. It does not control real equipment.
- Windows: The download is offered only when you are using Windows.
- Same computer: Use SunMule in a browser on the same computer that is running the Virtual Honey Badger.
- Salon setup: A salon appears in the Virtual Honey Badger only after the SunMule team has set it up for testing. If your salon is missing, contact SunMule support.
See Equipment control for how the real Honey Badger works.
Downloading
- Sign in to SunMule's testing environment on a Windows computer.
- Open Settings > Salons and choose the salon.
- Select the Virtual HB button at the top of the salon page. The button shows the current version number.
- Extract the downloaded zip file and run
hb.exefrom the extracted folder.
Windows security prompt
The first time you run it, Windows may show a "Windows protected your PC" message because the program is not signed. Select More info, and then Run anyway. You only need to do this once.
Using it
- Open the Virtual Honey Badger. It shows its version number and a list of salons.
- Choose your company and salon from the list.
- Select Work from followed by the salon name. The button changes to Leave and the activity log below it shows what is happening.
- In SunMule, select the Honey Badger icon in the top navigation bar to open the Honey Badger window.
- Administrators: Select Connect to a Salon and choose the same salon you chose in the Virtual Honey Badger.
- Other staff: Select Connect to followed by your salon's name.
SunMule then behaves as if you are on the salon's network with a real Honey Badger, and the in-salon features appear. See Room management and Session management.
You only need to do this the first time you connect to the salon in SunMule.
When you are finished, select Leave to disconnect. To test a different salon, leave the current one first and then choose another.
You cannot leave while sessions are running. The button is disabled, with a note that says so, until the sessions finish.
Troubleshooting

The Leave button is greyed out. Sessions are still running. Wait for them to finish.
