SunMule controls your tanning beds through the Honey Badger, a WiFi device that replaces the T-Max Manager. Your individual bed timers stay exactly as they are.

Honey Badger

The Honey Badger replaces the T-Max Manager (the central unit that normally connects a computer to your bed timers) with a WiFi-connected device. It is patent pending.

What changes

• The T-Max Manager and the serial cable to your computer are removed.
• SunMule talks to the Honey Badger over your salon WiFi instead.

What stays the same

• Your individual bed timers and the connections to them
• The safety systems built into your beds and timers

Device features

• Connects to your T-Max timer network (RJ-22) and to your WiFi
• LED status indicator
• Encrypted communications
• Over-the-air firmware updates
• Initial setup from a phone or computer

It works with legacy T-Max Manager setups (RS-232 serial) and newer USB setups.

Installing

1. Plan: Check WiFi coverage where the device will be, and make sure there is a power outlet nearby.
2. Remove the T-Max Manager: Disconnect the existing manager.
3. Place the Honey Badger: Put it within WiFi range and close to your timer network.
4. Connect the timers: Plug the Honey Badger into the timer network (RJ-22).
5. Power on: Connect power and check the LED status.
6. Connect to WiFi and SunMule: SunMule support helps register the device to your salon.
7. Test: Start a test session on each room.

What you can do once connected

• Start and stop sessions from the browser and manage the wait list. See Room management and Booking and wait list.
• Watch each room's status and timers in real time.
• Use the inventory and room control pages, which are available only while a salon's Honey Badger is ready.

Registering equipment in SunMule

SunMule also keeps a record of each bed or booth. Open Settings > Salons, choose the salon and add equipment:

• Model: Required. Pick from your equipment models (see Settings > Models).
• Serial number: Required. It must be unique across your company.
• Room: Optional. A room can hold only one piece of equipment.
• Enabled: Turns the equipment on or off.

From an existing item you can replace the equipment (move it to another room or disable it), remove it from its room, or disable it.

Models carry a service type and a maximum session time, so a customer's plan can be limited to particular models. See Membership plans.
