Install, Mobile and Offline

SunMule runs in any current browser, and you can also install it as an app on your computer, phone or tablet.

Installing SunMule on a computer

Installing gives SunMule its own window without browser tabs or an address bar. It behaves like any other program on your computer:

  • Windows: It appears in the Start Menu, can be pinned to the taskbar, and shows up in the Alt+Tab list.
  • Mac: It appears in Launchpad and the Applications folder, and can be kept in the Dock.
  • ChromeOS and Linux: It appears in the app launcher.

It uses the same account and the same data as the website, and it updates itself, so there is nothing to download.

Google Chrome

  1. Open SunMule and sign in.
  2. Select the Install icon at the right end of the address bar. If you don't see it, open the three-dot menu, choose Cast, save, and share, and then Install page as app. Older versions show Install SunMule in the menu instead.
  3. Confirm by selecting Install.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open SunMule and sign in.
  2. Select the App available icon at the right end of the address bar. Or open the three-dot menu, choose Apps, and then Install this site as an app.
  3. Confirm by selecting Install.

Safari on a Mac

Safari 17 and newer on macOS Sonoma and newer can add SunMule to the Dock. Open SunMule, choose File > Add to Dock, and then select Add.

Firefox

Firefox does not currently offer app installation on computers. Use Chrome or Edge if you would like SunMule as an app.

Removing the app

Open the installed SunMule, select the three-dot menu in its window and choose Uninstall SunMule. You can also remove it from Windows Settings > Apps like any other program. Your data stays in your SunMule account.

SunMule needs an internet connection to work normally. See System requirements.

Installing SunMule on a phone or tablet

  • iPhone and iPad: Open SunMule in Safari, tap Share, and then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: Open SunMule in Chrome and choose Install app (or Add to Home screen) from the menu.

An installed SunMule opens full screen without browser controls and appears on the home screen with its own icon.

On a phone

On small screens, SunMule shows a bottom navigation bar. The pages you use most are pinned to it and the rest move into More. While a salon's Honey Badger is connected, Dashboard, Rooms and Inventory are pinned.

Offline room controls

If the internet goes down but your salon WiFi and Honey Badger are still working, SunMule can still start and stop rooms.

  1. Lose the internet connection. SunMule shows a You're offline page with a Room Controls button.
  2. Select Room Controls. The page connects directly to the Honey Badger over the salon WiFi.
  3. Start or stop each room.

Things to know:

  • Set up in advance: Offline room controls only work on a device that has opened the Rooms page at least once while online on the salon WiFi. That saves your rooms on the device.
  • Same WiFi: The device must be on the salon WiFi to reach the Honey Badger.
  • Not recorded: Sessions started offline are not recorded in SunMule, so they do not appear in session history.
  • Limited: Offline controls only start and stop rooms. The wait list, customers and payments need the internet.

SunMule reconnects by itself when the internet returns.

Other things that need the internet include signing in, checking customers in, point-of-sale payments and booking.
